Our 3-stage verification system assesses projects on transparent and reliable communication, positive volunteer experiences and sustained efforts to maintain and improve project quality.
With so many agencies and organisations to choose from, it can be difficult to find the right project for you. With the Badge of Trust, we have created a verification system to help volunteers make the right choice. This authentication process gives volunteer sports coaches the assurance that the project is credible and suitable.
We also want to motivate projects to deliver excellent services. Our aim is to provide as much transparency and insight into the projects as possible.
The Badge of Trust is designed to ensure the success of each placement, for both the volunteer and the project.
GOLD Badge
The project has reached the highest level of our verification system, meeting both the mandatory and silver criteria.
The project demonstrates excellent and reliable communication and has good experience of hosting volunteers. In addition, the COACH ABROAD team or an independent assessor has had the opportunity to visit the project.
SILVER Badge
The project has already met the Bronze criteria and is also proactive.
To achieve the Silver Trust badge, the project has provided us with the latest annual report and photographs, has good communication habits, responds quickly to our requests and has already successfully placed some volunteers with us.
BRONZE Badge
The Bronze Badge of Trust is the minimum level of verification a project must achieve to be published on our website. The criteria are mandatory:
- Basic information and contact details of the organisation
- Full project profile
- Registration number, such as NPO number, and documentation from the sponsoring organisation. In the case of an individual initiative that has not yet been formally established, the project leader will submit a copy of his/her identity card or passport and a police clearance certificate.
- Online interview with the project coordinator
Please note: New projects should also be given a chance.
In particular, new projects that are beyond the reach of our COACH ABROAD team cannot be awarded a SILVER or GOLD badge immediately. We want to create a positive world of sport together and support projects to learn, build capacity and grow. If you are unsure and need advice, you can always contact us for more information.

Our online interview with the project coordinator provides a valuable insight into the project.
In this interview, the coordinator explains how the project came about and the impact it will have on disadvantaged communities. They can express their commitment and passion to attract potential volunteers to the project. Through transparent information sharing, adherence to legal standards and personal interaction through online interviews, we aim to create a vibrant network of enthusiastic people who contribute to the betterment of communities through their involvement in sport.
